Wobbrock & Lane takes seriously its commitment to give back to the community it serves.  Whether promoting morality in the legal profession, taking part in task forces on healthcare reform, or helping to pass laws that protect Oregonians, Wobbrock & Lane believes in good citizenship. 

Mr. Wobbrock has spent his life committed to building better communities.  In 1971, he and his wife joined the Peace Corps and traveled to Senegal, where they helped to build medical aid and birthing stations.

Mr. Wobbrock is a prominent member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, serving as President in 1992-1993, and later being honored as the Distinguished Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2003. In 2002, Mr. Lane received the Oregon Trial Lawyer’s Association Public Justice Award.

Mr. Wobbrock has also worked on many committees and task forces aimed at preserving access to justice, and improving the medical and court systems.  In 2008, Mr. Wobbrock was part of a committee of 6 attorneys and 4 judges, and helped to author recommendations to improve the way jury trials are conducted in Multnomah County.

In 2002, Mr. Wobbrock and Mr. Lane and a handful of other prominent Oregon attorneys worked with the Oregon Advocacy Center to defend disabled adults in Henderson v. Kitzhaber.  Their work helped to keep elderly and disabled patients in caring environments, and helped to arrange for smaller facilities that now receive federally matched funds.  The OAC continues to monitor the residents and facility directors to ensure that the level of care is maintained.

In 2007, Larry and Richard worked together to pass Senate Bill 108, Oregon’s “safe passing” law.  The bill began as the effort of Mr. Wobbrock and Mr. Lane to require commercial trucks to use a forward crossview mirror, and evolved into a bill which continues to protect Oregon bicyclists and pedestrians today.  Mr. Lane proudly attended the signing of the bill, along with the family of a child who was killed by a truck with an inadequate mirror system.

Mr. Lane is a prominent member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers association, and has worked passionately to ensure the rights of injured Oregonians.  Mr. Lane served on the Legislative Committee of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association for 6 years, spending a great deal of his time beating back well-funded special interests seeking to restrict Oregonian’s civil rights and limit their access to the justice system.

Mr. Lane was recognized in 2009 for his work in helping to wrap up one of the most successful legislative sessions for injured Oregon consumers.  Mr. Lane put in countless hours attending daily meetings, testifying at hearings, and reviewing legislation.

Mr. Wobrock also served on the Medical Liability task Force in 2010, working with prominent members of the Oregon legal and medical communities to create patient-centered goals for system improvement.  The Medical Liability Task Force provided recommendations to the Oregon Health Policy Board.

From 2005 until 2011, Mr. Wobrock served on the board of Morrison Child & Family Services, a local non-profit organization that delivers specialized services to children, from birth through age 18, and families coping with adversity and trauma.
